Carl Fung

Violin and Piano

Carl received his Masters of Music in Violin performance at the University of Victoria where hestudied under Sharon Stanis and Ann Elliot-Goldschmidt. He has since performed with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra and spent most of his years teaching privately for many academies around Vancouver.

 

He has also studied pedagogical courses as part of the education program during his time atthe University of British Columbia which has qualified him to teach at Secondary Schools and aids in his approach to one-on-one private lessons. Carl has also received a Bachelor of Music from the Universityof British Columbia studying under the study of David Gillham. Carl understands the philosophy of academic learning in the classical field and that each student is unique and different in their approach ofeducation and adapts accordingly to each student. As well, he has experience as a pianist and accompanist through-out his career, and is experienced teaching new beginners to intermediate level students and is familiar with the RCM syllabus as well as piano adventure methods for younger or newstudents. As a musician and teacher, he also enjoys creating bonds with his students by learning their hobbies outside of music and making connections to each different field to help students relate and understand each concept clearly. Carl has experience in aiding many students through successful youth orchestra auditions as well as RCM examinations through-out his teaching career.

 

He is familiar with the Suzuki methods as well as the Royal Conservatory of Music Curriculum and guides students towards their musical achievements with studies and techniques including, Kreutzer, Mazas,Sevcik, Schradieck, Flesch, Fischer, and Galamian.
